The idea that tangiers is really just opinion. See i havent ever really had a hard time gettin it to acclimate quickly and effectively and getting it to smoke right. When i acclimate it only takes like 3 or 4 hours for mine to acclimate. I dont live in a climate anything like where its produced either. My climate is very very dry and its produced in i think the san dieago area. I know its produced in a very humid area. But it is really good. Its not for everyone, but i really think that the tempormental-ness of it seems to be an opinion.

no way SC, def depends on your area ... my tang took weeks to smell right. Even though where you are is dry ... if it stays that way, the tobacco will get out of shock ... if you are in a place like where I am ... (weather changes every 20 min) the tobacco will never get out of shock, just keeps going back and forth. The humidity change creates shock ... getting out of shock = steady humidity levels.

I'm in Arizona. I only smoke Nakhla and Tangiers and AF... mostly Tangiers though. Acclimates in 3 or 4 hours, though I usually leave it out for a few hours after that. I got pretty lucky with the packing method, I learned it the first week. Took me a few weeks after that to learn the heat management.

Once I got it down, it smokes better and tastes truer than any other shisha.

I also like that it doesn't have any food coloring in it.

Yeah I have also been lucky. I have never had problems getting it to acclimate. Also in terms of packing, I can pack it tight, loose, medium and it smokes fine for me (mostly, some I do have to cram it in there). Never had problems with it getting harsh, short of burning it. So you never know, it might work fine for you and have no problems with it.

the best bowl of shisha i've ever smoked was tangiers, the flavor was nasty, it was the lucid passionfruit, i was sitting on my porch and it was raining and i was billowing clouds out of myself, it was nice, but i'm not a passionfruit kinda guy. perhaps horchata in the near future.

Arizona seems like a great place for Tangiers. Im like mattarios here, I live in Indiana and thw weather changes constantly here. Last week, foot of snow, this week, 60 degrees and no coat, next week, cold again, it can be hard to get right, but when it is, its great

in most cases I'd agree ... not in my case, I even tried 2 use 2-3 half pieces of those al'aweal coals or whatever those things r, the HC coals and still harsh.

Canon come over to my place and pack me a bowl ... then you will believe me :-)

When the shisha smells like soy sauce for over 3 weeks ... you know it is the weather causing the issue.

definately not woth it to me. way too much hassle to eventually end up with a mediocre smoke, no thanks.
smoking is all about relaxation to me, thats why i`ll just stick to nakhla.

I'm inclined to agree with you, Shisha Fan.

I used to buy a lot of it but I just stick to Nakhla, Layalina, AF, and Fumari now. They all smoke really well, taste great and that's what's important.

Its defineatly an issue for some people including me (i live in sweden so it isnt that weird, lol the word climate shock is not enough), orange soda (caffeinated) smells delicous but with a slight tobacco smell or something, its also kinda dry compared to the other flavours i bought, need to buy some glycerine (or agave syrup if i can find any). Blueberry has a very special smell, it does smell kinda like blueberrys but very "earthy". I have acclimated for maybe a total of 5 days, i dont think it will get better than it is now, gonna try some blueberry now actually, ill report my failure soon happy.gif

id agree with a few of you......some people like it and some dont. in most cases the people that dont like it had a bad experience with it their first time. when its packed right, and ample amount of heat is supplied, its spectacular!!!! flavor is amazing, and smoke off the first pull. i could smoke it every day!

HOURS OF ENJOYMENT!!! CHA CHING! ylsuper.gif

I think that people have problems with Tangiers at first, but when you learn packing and heat management on it it smokes like any other tobacco, oftentimes better than any other tobacco. It has a learning curve but it does not smoke differently when you get it right. This makes acclimating the only real finnicky part, which for some people can take under 5 hours, so it really isn't a big deal.

I personally love the stuff now that I know how to smoke it, I get better flavor and smoke from it than anything else. Edited by soldier92
